The Trans Canada Trail is a shared-use Trail accommodating five core activities: walking, cycling, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The Trail is a community based initiative and to make certain that the Trail is planned and built according to local needs, a Trans Canada Trail Council has been established in each province and territory. These councils are working with community groups to plan and co-ordinate the route, link existing trails together by new construction and ensure the continuing maintenance of the Trail. Through the publishing and distribution of art cards, posters, limited edition prints, calendars and other art products, VISIONS OF A NATION raises funds and public awareness for the Trans Canada Trail At the same time it provides opportunities to artists through royalties from the sale of their works, increased exposure and both national and international distribution of their art.
