10,000 Miles Of Freedom

The Trans Canada Trail is a shared-use Trail accommodating five core activities: walking, cycling, horseback riding, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. The Trail is a community based initiative and to make certain that the Trail is planned and built according to local needs, a Trans Canada Trail Council has been established in each province and territory. These councils are working with community groups to plan and co-ordinate the route, link existing trails together by new construction and ensure the continuing maintenance of the Trail.

Visions of a Nation

Through the publishing and distribution of art cards, posters, limited edition prints, calendars and other art products, VISIONS OF A NATION raises funds and public awareness for the Trans Canada Trail  At the same time it provides opportunities to artists through royalties from the sale of their works, increased exposure and both national and international distribution of their art.
Please support these Trans Canada Trail initiatives.

From the Group of Seven to the art of the First Nations, our vast and diverse landscape has played an integral role in the uniquely Canadian arts movement. The connection between the trail and the arts is only natural: Just as we share the ground beneath our feet, we also share Canadian culture.

Artists continue to be inspired by the vision of the Trail. Link from here to view the contributing works of participating artists, who include: Linda Frimer,  Roy Henry Vickers,  Robert GuestIrene Klar,  Ernie Scoles, Courtney Milne and Ted Harrison. The B.C. Archives have also allowed two  Emily Carr images to be printed in support of the Trail. Corporate sponsors of VISIONS OF A NATION are The Bay, Bowne of Vancouver, Inkwell Design Inc., Manning Press, Singing Tree Publishing, Eagle Dancer Enterprises, Industry Canada, and Human Resourses Deveolpment Canada.

Canadian Art Connections Ltd is the founding sponsor of VISIONS OF A NATION. We are currently building partnerships in other provinces to manage the project at provincial levels. We will be working with artists from across the country and distributing the art products across Canada and internationally through galleries, trails groups, and our existing national distribution network. We want Canadians to share their visions of the nation.

Where we are connected by the Trans Canada Trail,
we will be connected by our VISIONS OF A NATION.
